MegaCities & Architecture

I watched the first part of Andrew Marr's new programme MegaCities last night, and he went down even further in my estimation. What a pile of old BBC tosh it was. Breathy enthusiasm from the jug-eared journalist, with some good photography of skyscrapers being built, but absolutely no critical analysis whatsoever. No sociological information on the millions of people throughout the globe turning from agricultural to urban life. No scientific information on the building of structures quarter of a mile high. No insights into the politics and economics of cities, how they are run, or what has caused their recent development. It was like a third-rate weekend supplement 'look at me' piece of tourism masquerading as a Monitor documentary.
