The Open Office suite is already free at OpenOffice.org but now you don't even need to download and install it on your computer. Ulteo.com are offering a free online version, with 1GB of storage space where you can store your data. This means you could access your data files from anywhere in the world; you're safe from a hard disk crash on your own machine; and it's a terrific facility if you were into any sort of collaborative writing project. And just in case you didn't know, Open Office is more than just a word-processor. It has spreadsheets, presentation software, and a database. In other words, it's a free version of the Microsoft Office Suite, which would cost you nearly a hundred quid otherwise. Nudge, nudge.
