May Day

This is the view from my office window. Every year at this time cherry blossom lights up the neighbourhood so that it becomes a magically illuminated world. Sadly, the blossom only has a short life - often beaten from the trees by lashing rains within a few days, dropping to cover the lawns like a carpet of pink foam. So I thought I would capture the view today as a reminder for myself later in the year. This is recorded shortly after I walked back from the polling station, where I registered my protest vote against Blair's corrupt regime. I am available for comment on Newsnight tonight, if Jeremy Paxman or Martha Kearney think it was my vote which tipped the balance and brought down the government.
