Come Rain or Come Shine
Excellent biographical essay on Harld Arlen by John Lahr in the current issue of The New Yorker. Arlen was the composer of classical American sons such as Blues in the Night and Last Night When We Were Young. Although he had a rather sad personal life, he was also something of a wit. Speaking of US provincialism, he quipped "To commit suicide in Buffalo would be redundant"
